Motivational Speaker
Katie has a degree in Psychology and Elementary teaching which makes her a great fit for the classroom or for other speaking venues. Katie just recently returned from the Thunder Bay Celebrity Sports Dinner where she presented a 30 minute keynote speech alongside Warren Moon, the male speaker of the evening. One of her favorite trips was to Kugaaruk, Nunavut where she spoke to children in grades 1-12 about goal setting and healthy lifestyles. If your school, organization, or business is interested in hiring her please email katie directly at: ELEMENTARY-INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL PRESENTATION: Katie grew up in Thunder Bay, ON and is one of Canada’s top female hockey players. Katie will use her own life experiences and relate them to the students in a one hour long goal setting and overcoming obstacles powerpoint presentation. Topics include overcoming adversities, having a positive attitude, determination, her mental approach to life and sport, SMART Goals, and explaining the impact that goal setting has had on her throughout her career. With the use of video clips and a slide show, as well as encouraging active participation of her audience, Katie’s presentation is delivered straight from the heart. Her friendly, yet intense approach helps her to get her message across in a manner that children can relate to, and she is a true inspiration and role model for these children. Requirements: Projector with PC hook-ups and sound, screen, display table for medals, 2 chairs, microphone Review written by Chelsea Beckerton, Wawa, Ontario presentation - February 26, 2009: "Awesome job Katie. I was very inspired, me being only 12 years old you have taught me a lot about not giving up. I really enjoyed the whole presentation, and you're a great role model to the younger kids at my school. I see SJS really enjoyed it. I later wrote about what I learned and I couldn't stop writing because I had so much to say! You were so good at speaking and I really enjoyed the slideshow also. Thank so much and I hope I can see you back at SJS one day!" KEYNOTE SPEECH: Katie was told that she was the 26th or 27th player brought to the Olympic tryouts. There were only 27 players invited and 20 would make the Olympic team. She had the least amount of national team experience out of anyone who made the team and she was cut from the team the year before. Come enjoy this inspirational talk and hear all about how Katie made the 2006 Olympic team!
